Deltek MPM has been one of the most successful applications for Earned Value Management. There are many MPM implementations across many industries.  MPM has been marketed and implemented as a single-program, standalone system with little configuration or tailoring.  

Deltek MPM is Deltek's cost engine for stand alone programs. Historically Deltek MPM has been implemented in a standalone mode, without direct integration with scheduling systems or financial systems.  MPM typically has not been delivered with any integrated training or EVMS processes to support the various roles involved in Earned Value Management and Project Management.

Deltek CostPoint is a fully functioned Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software solution for mid-sized, project-oriented businesses. It includes software for Financial, Manufacturing, Human Resources, Purchasing, Regulatory Compliance and Business Performance.

The Scheduling Engine in an Earned Value Management System (EVMS) holds and is used to maintain the baseline and current schedule for the project.  The project schedule is often used as the basis for estimating and forecasting the resources required for the project. 

Primavera has been in business since 1983. Their business model was to build project management software and sell it through a network of distributors.  They now sell directly to major accounts, IT accounts and Government Agencies.

For two main reasons, Enterprise Risk Management has never been so popular in Government organizations worldwide. 

Deltek Open Plan can be implemented as a single-project scheduling tool, perhaps as part of an Earned Value Management System, or as part of a complete Enterprise Project Management application serving hundreds or thousands of projects and users.

Deltek Open Plan is a mature, Critical Path Method (CPM) based project-scheduling engine.
