Deltek MPM
Deltek purchased the MPM product from Planview in September 2008. MPM was originally called Micro-Frame Program Manager and was first released by Business Engine in 1986. PlanView acquired the product when it purchased the Business Engine company in February 2007.
MPM is one of the leading EVMS cost engines. It uses a familiar spreadsheet metaphor for data entry.
Deltek positions MPM as being appropriate for small teams (less than 10 users), single program implementations.
Deltek positions Cobra as the EVMS cost engine for larger, more complex multi-program implementations with integration requirements and large data volumes. The configuration and setup of Cobra is more complex than MPM.
MPM is client/server and utilizes the btrieve database (now called Pervasive).
MPM integrates with Microsoft Project via a capability called Project Link. This allows budgets, estimates and status to be imported from Microsoft Project.
MPM can pass data to Deltek wInsight for EVM Analysis and reporting.
MPM does not integrate with Deltek's other EPM products such as Open Plan and WelcomHome.
An ability to create a Data Warehouse from MPM data is included with MPM to make EVM data available to a wide audience.
