SAP and Earned Value Management

ERP and General Ledger systems like SAP play an important role in EVM Systems.  Pinnacle has implemented EVM Systems that are integrated with SAP to provide essential information for EVMS cost and performance analysis.

In an EVMS implementation, SAP will provide critical information such as:

  • Time reporting information
  • Purchasing information, including actual costs
  • Supplier actual and estimated actual costs
  • Subcontract invoices and costs
  • Other Direct Costs
  • Travel Costs
  • Overhead Costs
  • General Administrative Costs

This information is extracted from SAP and then input into EVM tools such as Primavera Cost Manager, EcoSys EPC, Deltek Cobra, Deltek MPM, etc. 

Pinnacle has used a number of different methods to extract the data listed above.  In addition to determining how to integrate SAP with other EVM tools, there is almost always a need to adjust processes and the level of detail to correctly capture information.  The most common area that needs to be refined in SAP is the timesheet information.
