Comments Ending Soon on IPMR DID
The comment period for the new Integrated Program Management Report (IPMR) Data Item Description (DID) ends on January 31, 2012. If you haven't read the draft yet, it is available here:
http://www.acq.osd.mil/evm/resources/did.shtml
If you haven't heard of the IPMR DID, it is intended to combine and update two previous DIDs:
- DI-MGMT-81466A - CPR
- DI-MGMT-81650 - IMS
A couple of major differences in the new DI-MGMT-81466B are
- The submittal of the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) as a new Format 6
- The requirement of schedule data to be submitted in the UN/CEFACT XML format
While most of the requirements are substantively the same as before, the UN/CEFACT requirement may pose quite a challenge for some organizations. We expect that most major scheduling tools will be supporting the format soon, if they aren't already, but an upgrade may be required if you are using an older version. Even if your scheduling tool supports UN/CEFACT, the converted data may not be the same as what you are currently managing to, depending on the specific settings and features you are using to calculate your schedule.
Other revisions may be seen in the final document based on comments received. Pinnacle consultants have been working diligently over the past several months to make a positive contribution to the new requirements. If you would like to make your voice heard, now is the time. There are only a few days left.
