Bell Helicopter Textron Improves EVMS with Pinnacle Assistance
Pinnacle partnered with Bell Helicopter Textron on several major Earned Value Management Systems initiatives over a number of years. Bell performs billions of dollars in programs for its DoD and Federal Agency clients.
We first helped them to replace a set of proprietary, non-integrated, mainframe Earned Value tools with an integrated “best of breed”, commercial product based, EVMS. We next helped them to improve the business of EV through process re-design, innovative training and support for all roles, and by integrating into the EVMS with the rest of Bell’s Enterprise systems.
Pinnacle put together a comprehensive corporate training program for PMs, Business Managers, IPT Leads, CAMs, Cost/Schedule Analysts, Schedulers and Program Controls personnel. We developed work-product oriented EVMS processes and integrated them into an Online Process Asset Library (PAL) with Work Aids and other materials to drive consistency in business practices and adoption of the system.
We drove business change at all levels of the organization to not just get them on a path to re-certification, but provide the tools, information and management focus to develop the EVMS as a core enterprise business management system.
Pinnacle also implemented the Primavera P6 Project Management software, the Primavera Cost Manager software and the Deltek wInsight EVM reporting tool. We integrated the Primavera based EVMS with multiple financial, production management and manufacturing systems. Pinnacle also built custom modules addressing Budget Change Requests and Risk Management for Bell.
At the Primavera 2006 User Conference, Mike Breuker of Pinnacle gave a presentation on the EVMS implementation at Bell Helicopter.
At last year's Primavera User Conference, Stuart Retter of Bell Helicopter presented an overview of the implementation of the Risk Management implementation that Pinnacle assisted with.
